Looking to completely transform a drab, ordinary room? The easiest way is by using creative lighting. One unit can flood a wall or fill a space with beautiful colour. The flames of candles can add romanticism to a dining hall. A string of tiny white lights makes everyone feel nostalgic.

It was one of the first things I asked my photographers about when planning my reception. We went for a simple black and white backdrop (as well as b&w pics), and guests loved goofing around and snapping photos of themselves – in fact, very few of the 120 people at our wedding didn’t use it. By the end of the night, guests were writing funny messages on the backs of their place cards and holding them up in the pictures, or they posed with items from the table, including apples from our centrepieces and wine bottles.
