wedding photo booth

What was once an interactive hands-on addition at carnivals and fairs is now becoming a common feature at weddings – photo booths. It was one of the first things I asked my photographers about when planning my reception. We went for a simple black and white backdrop (as well as b&w pics), and guests loved goofing around and snapping photos of themselves – in fact, very few of the 120 people at our wedding didn’t use it. By the end of the night, guests were writing funny messages on the backs of their place cards and holding them up in the pictures, or they posed with items from the table, including apples from our centrepieces and wine bottles.

The best part about photo booths is how easy they are to set up – you can make them as fun and animated as you want. All you need is a camera (with a trigger button) on a tripod and a backdrop, and you can tell your friends to start shooting!

Couples are giving their guests a bevy of fun props to add character to their self-portraits, from accessories like glasses, wigs and toys to handheld chalkboards and saying bubbles (I’m a sucker for those vintage-y moustaches on a stick – so cute!).

You can use the pictures to make up thank you cards (give each guest their own portrait) or keep them as a whimsical keepsake of your special day.
