I’m not a big fan of wedding favours. To be honest, they’re often just pretty dust collectors (I have a basket on the top of my fridge with random bottle openers, baggies of melted Jordan almonds and engraved key rings). They seem like a bit of waste.
But not when a bride and groom choose a useful bonbonniere. There are a lot of creative and useful favour ideas out there, and some of my favourites are the edibles. Everyone loves a sweet treat to indulge in, and with all of the adorable designs that are available, it just makes sense to go with a yummy favour.
I decided to give guests at my wedding baked apple spice mix – I layered the dry ingredients in clear cone-shaped bags and attached small recipe cards. It was a hit at my fall-themed wedding.
But an even easier route: just buy your edible favours. You can opt for personalized candies like chocolate bars, lollipops or jelly beans, go with individual baked goods such as boxed cupcakes, cookies, brownies, or dessert mixes (for muffins and such), and you can even buy pretty little drink mixes for tea, coffee, and hot chocolate (I fell in love with the miniature jars of honey – very unique!).
